Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was unhappy with his side’s performance despite a 1-0 win over Fulham, saying they were too relaxed after taking the lead and warned that a lack of commitment could cost them a place in the Champions League.

Villa scored the winner in the 12th minute through Youri Tielemans but Fulham fell to them at times afterwards, particularly when Ezri Konsa lost the ball and almost scored, leading to Emery arguing with his players on the touchline.

“We started well but after the goal we started to move back and it was too easy to lose the ball. I told the players to stay focused for the whole 90 minutes, not just the beginning,” Emery said.

Although Villa are level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, the final place in the Champions League, Emery is still reluctant to talk about his chances, insisting that they have to focus on one game at a time, starting with next weekend’s game against Bournemouth.

“Today we want to get closer to Europe. สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน It’s great. If we don’t win today, forget about the Champions League.

“The best gift we can get is to be in the Champions League. We are not favourites but we will fight for it. Now we have to focus on the game against Bournemouth next weekend, which is very difficult.”
