Marc Casado injured his right knee in the 4-2 win at Atletico Madrid and could be out for at least two months.

Barcelona cruised to a 4-2 win at Atletico Madrid on Sunday but Hansi Flick’s side suffered a blow after losing Marc Casado to a knee injury that threatened to end the season early.

It was reported that the 21-year-old midfielder had injury his right knee after a collision with Antoine Griezmann in the first half and will be out for at least two months depending on whether his knee ligaments are partially or fully torn.

According to further reports, Inigo Martinez also suffer a right knee ligament injury in the latest game and is expect to be out for around 2-3 weeks, with the 33-year-old centre-back withdrawing from Spain’s squad for the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands, similar to Casado. 

However, Barcelona released a statement regarding the injuries of Cazado and Inigo, but did not confirm the timeframe for their recovery.

‘Tests performed this morning have shown that Marc Casado has a right knee ligament injury. Further tests are pending to assess the extent of the injury and further treatment.’ 

‘The tests carried out on Inigo Martinez have revealed a right knee ligament injury. The player will undergo treatment at Barcelona under the supervision of the club’s doctors.’
